It may be necessary to alter or adjust them for other
makes of kiln, types of controller or brand of slip, however
they will give you a good starting point if this is the case.

Always make a test firing with "scrap ware" and
witness cones when using a new programme for the
first time. Review the fired ware and adjust the
programme if necessary.

Suggested Orton standard pyrometric cone equivalent programmes for H3i controller for
Bell porcelains.

The ramp rates and switch off temperatures can be adjusted up and down to suit your own particular
needs or requirements or type of slip being used. As a general rule white porcelains fire at a
temperature equivalent to cone 7, flesh to cone 6 and colours (browns, etc) to cone 5. However check
your slip manufactures literature to see which cone temperature is recommended for a particular colour.

The formula to convert temperatures from centigrade to fahrenheit is (�C x 1.8) + 32 = �F.

i.e multiply the Centigrade Temperature by 1.8 and add 32.

When using an untried, new or unfamiliar firing programme always run a test with witness cones
and scrap ware on the shelf. Review the witness cones and the finish of the fired pieces and if
required adjust the programme accordingly.
